Cometa What? 

IBM, Intel, AT&T unveil US Wi-Fi JV. 20k hot spots [The Register]

I'm blogging this kinda late, because I've yet to see a story that adequately explains what Cometa is or what it means.  All it means is that you'll be able to go to your current cell provider and add WiFi to your plan.

There are a ton of implementation details that haven't been publicly talked about, and probably won't be known until Cometa customers start rolling out service.  Anything beyond what I've written above is pure speculation.
