I really recommend the book "Agile Software Development" from Alistair Cockburn - it's really great to read and it's the first book since the middle of the 80s about software development I really enjoy. I have only read the first 50 pages, but for example the comparision between software development and epic poetry writing is absolutly excellent. And yesterday I read about the Not-Invented-Here (NIH) syndrome - which I feel is absolutely true for most software development (at least here in Germany). Why can't all companies start a NIHBIDIA award like Texas Instruments did? (NIHBIDIA=Not Invented here but I did it anyway) - Great idea, so think about it! 9:38:03 AM
