Desperate for help: 160+ animals in jeopardy as TN Humane Society closes operations
Due to financial difficulty, Monroe County Volunteer Humane Society is closing its doors and needs to find homes for all 160+ animals in their care ASAP or they will have to be euthanized. I helped a friend of mine rescue a puppy from there just a few weeks ago and Laurie, their Director of Operations, was wonderful to work with. They will be greatly missed in the rescue community.
There are MANY pets whose lives hang in the balance, so please call to see if you can adopt/rescue/foster, or even send a tax-deductible donation to buy these babies some more time!!! If you can't mail a donation, but can send one via PayPal, you can send one to the nonprofit organization and I will forward it on to them! Just email me or go to www.ncaresonline.org and click on the PayPal icon!

Easter Lilies: pretty poison Pet owners be forewarned :
"...You may not be aware of it, but just one bite of the Easter Lily plant can cause kidney failure in your pet. A small amount of Easter Lily eaten by a cat, for example, can kill a cat. When injested by a cat Easter Lilies cause vomitting, and your cat can become lethargic and refuse to eat.
If this happens to your cat, you must have it treated immediately, as within about eighteen hours your cat can go into kidney failure. Yes...it happens that fast. Dogs aren't normally so severly affected. They may get a stomach ache, but that's normally it.
Even so, if you have a pet cat or dog, you would be better off not having any Easter Lilies at home..." [Animal News Center]
