I've been enjoying XM Radio in the car for nearly a year now, switching between a small handful of favorite channels. I picked XM for two reasons: one, the hardware was free after buying a set of tires (I was buying the tires anyway), and two, I refuse to support Howard Stern. Reason #2 is going to become problematic here real soon:

2.19.07: XM, Sirius set to merge. AP reports that XM and Sirius have agreed to merge. . .The obvious question is whether XM hardware will continue to be supported. [Silicon Valley Watcher--reporting on the business and culture of innovation]

I'm sure it will take a few months to sort out. Meanwhile, I'm glad I didn't buy that Polk Audio XM receiver. But my dad just put a new audio system in his Prius, including XM Radio, instead of buying a new hybrid Camry. Yuck.

Counting down to CHI 2007: the Advanced Program is up, and early registration closes March 2. Don't miss it. This is the 25th anniversary CHI, and it's in Silicon Valley, so you have no excuse.
