From the LLL E-news release:
The Rev. Dr. Wallace Schulz was recognized today for his 25 years of service to Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) and the International Lutheran Laymen's League. Speaking before more than 1,000 league members, clergy and guests, Int'l LLL President Alvin Waldron and LHM Executive Director Rodger Hebermehl cited Schulz's many contributions.
"I want to assure you today that we are committed to a sincere, good faith effort to resolve our present situation and restore Dr. Schulz to a place of service within the league," said Waldron. "We will work to do all we can to find a swift, fair, God-pleasing resolution to this situation that will best allow us to pursue our mission of bringing Christ to the nations and the nations to the church." Schulz was not present at the convention.
[someone in the back of the room whispers, "Gee, why wasn't he there? Oh, that's right -- he was suspended..."]
Lutheran Hour Ministries, with headquarters in St. Louis, is a service of the International Lutheran Laymen's League (Int'l LLL) a volunteer organization of 130,000 members. The Int'l LLL is an auxiliary of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and Lutheran Church-Canada.
Here's an interesting question. Structurally, the LLL is an official auxiliary of the LCMS. How is it they have a code of ethics that trumps the constitutional responsibilities assigned to it's officers?
*sigh*
Whatta mess.
