A few of you have asked about my prolonged absence from my blog here. Turns out I'm a wanted man, but I'm not on the lam.
Things have been unusually busy with preliminary meetings examining the responsibilities and challenges facing me in my missionary situation here. Now some glad, but weighty matters are officially set before me.
I've served as full-time Missionary-at-Large to the Omaha Tribe for almost 5 1/2 years now. During that time, I've occasionally assisted a couple of congregations in the area who were vacant -- that is, without a pastor of their own.
Two of those congregations have both over the course of the last week taken formal action to Call me to serve in a dual-ministry situation, wherein I would serve one of those congregations half-time and serve half-time in my Missionary duties on the reservation.
So now it's time to pray, reflect and decide whether to leave my present duties and which Call (if either) to fulfill: St. John Lutheran Church in Wakefield, NE or Zion Lutheran Church in rural Bancroft, NE.
A little stressful, to be sure. The thought occurred to me earlier today that it's kind of like having two wonderful suitors both propose to you in the same week.
