Web Footage
Atlanta Journal-Constitution adds video to Web reporters' arsenal. Atlanta Journal-Constitution has added four high-end consumer-grade camcorders to its Web unit so reporters can shoot exclusive footage for the paper's Web site. That's impressive commitment, especially considering ajc.com already runs local news reports from WSB (co-owned by Cox Communications).... [CyberJournalist.net]

Gov. Dean on CNBC
Gov. Dean on CNBC Again -- 11:00 p.m. EDT.

If you missed Gov. Dean's television hosting debut on Sunday night, don't worry - you can check him out tonight. Gov. Dean filled in as a guest host for Tina Brown on Topic A with Tina Brown this past Sunday. There will be a repeat of the show this evening at 11:00 p.m. EDT.

Tom McMahon, DFA's executive director, and I were lucky to be with Gov. Dean when he taped the show last week - it was a great experience and fun to be behind the scenes at CNBC. While we were at the studio, we ran into CNBC on-air personalities John McEnroe, Ron Insana and James Cramer. Al Franken was a guest on John McEnroe's show and we bumped into him in the green room. Gov. Dean was glad to have a forum to discuss issues that are important to him in a thought provoking forum?the show focuses on race, the changing role of the media and electronic voting.

Although Gov. Dean is committed to public service - as he told Jon Stewart - he honestly likes helping people, he was truly a natural when it came to the role of television talk host (or maybe he just enjoyed being on the other side for once). He admitted that the job was much harder than what it looked - so, I'm glad he will be continuing his work with DFA.

Please tell us what you thought about the show.

Animal Crackers
Hello, I Must Be Going.

I just got back from Colorado last Friday, caught my breath for a day or two, started teaching a class this week, and now I'm getting ready to leave for Barcelona on Sunday. I head to California almost immediately after I return at the end of August.

Whew!

My schedule recently has put me in mind of this old Marx Brothers chestnut from Animal Crackers (.wav).

Speaking of the Marx Brothers, check out this nifty online museum of their movie posters and records, then ask yourself, Why a Duck?.

Hello
I must be going
I cannot stay
I came to say
I must be going
I'm glad I came
but still the same
I must be going
I'll stay a week or two
I'll stay the summer through
but I am telling you
I must be goinnngg!
