Waikiki Parc Hotel "Makes New Waves"
Honolulu Hotel Appoints First-Ever Director of Surfing
Honolulu, HI -- (April 2005) - Now guests at the Waikiki Parc Hotel can get a sneak peak inside the surfing mystique with the appointment of the property's first-ever Director of Surfing, Hawaiian Fire's owner Garrett Valles. Valles will serve as the perfect ambassador for hotel guests looking for a truly authentic surf experience as they are introduced to the sport's rich culture and history.
This unique and exciting appointment will give Waikiki Parc guests access to the best and most secluded surfing spots on Oahu as well as teach them how to master this ancient sport of Hawaiian Kings. Waikiki Parc guests will receive transportation to and from the remote and semi-private Kalaeloa Beach, surf amenities (soft surfboard, a leash, reef shoes), a shade tent with chairs, and a two-hour lesson. Hawaiian Fire maintains a three-to-one student teacher ratio or better, making certain students receive personal attention in the water. One-on-one lessons are also available. Prices start at $119.00 for a three-hour experience.
In addition to the daily lessons, Waikiki Parc also offers the complete Ne'ehope Nalu experience, which includes hands-on lessons, immersion in the rich traditions of surfing customs, and a seaside sunset bonfire where the Director of Surfing shares centuries of surfing lore accompanied by a dinner featuring local and mainland favorites such as shrimp skewers, kalbi short ribs, fresh island fruits and more.
"As an avid surfer, I wanted our guests to understand the pure exhilaration I get from this exciting sport. Appreciating surfing is not just about catching the perfect wave, it's also about understanding the sport's rich historical context," said Robin Graf, General Manager of the Waikiki Parc Hotel. "This senior level appointment makes sense because surfing is as big a part of thee Waikiki Parc experience as our restaurants and our rooms."
Garrett Valles said he is delighted to share his passion to Hang Ten with guests at the Waikiki Parc. "Surfing is truly a sport where you must compete against the incredible forces of nature to succeed.
