Surf Theatre September - Ultimate Sessions
South Bay Toyota presents Surf Theatre
September Feature:
Ira Opper's Ultimate Sessions on the Big Screen! "Ultimate Sessions is an anthology of the evolution
of both the surf film and surfing itself," said Opper. "I would like
the audience to leave the theater experiencing the sport's most
incredible sessions, from the shortboard revolution to the end of the
20th Century."
Director Ira
Opper and writer Matt Warshaw (Encyclopedia of Surfing) have
painstakingly sifted through footage from the most influential films of
the last 30 years-from Cosmic Children to September Sessions-to craft a
premium no-filler blend of touchstone moments from the sports most
ground-breaking wave riders.
Witness
Uluwatu ridden for the first time in 1972 in Alby Falzon's watershed
Morning of the Earth. Shaun Tomson, Rabbitt and Mark Richards' epic
tube duel at Pipeline in Bill Delaney's 1975 Free Ride. Peer into the
future with Kelly Slater's Indonesian performances in Jack Johnson's
September Sessions.
In
addition to original footage from such films as Searching for Curren
and Ocean Fever, recent interviews of the featured surfers and
filmmakers provide a behind the scenes back story of these "ultimate
sessions."
