Congress to Sell Off Public Lands?. Those of you who have known me for years remember that long before I became involved in national politics and the Internet, I could be found out in the wilds of Southern Utah, often doing volunteer work for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance.
I'm still doing work with them (currently paid work -- there's your full disclosure) and we've been busy in the past few weeks building online opposition to a terrible bill currently before the House and Senate, which would sell off vast amounts of public lands near St. George, Utah and provide millions of dollars in proceeds from the sale to private developers.
It's a bad bill that sets a bad precedent, and I'd like to invite you to join me in opposing it.
Please, take a moment to sign the petition opposing the bill -- or, better yet, write your Senators and Representatives and ask them to oppose it.
And if you're a blogger, spread the word about this effort. The House version of the bill is going before the Resources Committee tomorrow -- and stopping this end-of-session effort to dispose of our public lands is a high priority for me.
