Podcasting Find - Sort of
Here's the story...
Another Podcasting Find - Leo & Woz.
So this morning on the commute in to work, I'm listening to Leo's show and he just got back from a Mac Mania Geek Cruise. [ I tried to get my employer to send me on a Perl Geek Cruise, but have so far been unsuccessful. ] The podcast was an excellent interview with Steve Wozniak , creator of the Apple computer. Certainly worth a listen.
Well I went to the site and
while I'm sure it has some great audio content buried in the archives, the point is it's buried. Maybe I missed it, but I could not find any meta data about the numerous audio files - other than date. So I guess I could start downloading and listening, but to do it manually, no thanks. I'll listen to the Woz interview and maybe come back, but yuck - is it really worth the effort? This experience illustrates to me a couple of points about podcasting.
To entice the audience to jump into a 'channel' (i.e., someone's show) and start listening requires you to tell folks something about your podcast to entice them. We fortunately have plenty to choose from today (can you believe it Adam? Dave? Steve?)
Second, points out the tremendous value of the RSS chain for subscribing. OK to download an MP3 file manually once in a while, but not too often.
"Blog" Hits the Mainstream
So 'blog' is the run-away leader for new word of 2004. How long has it been? four, five years in the making?Wonder if words are ever dropped from the M-WC dictionary to make room for the new ones? Must be, but which ones in 2004? In other words, what's the rest of the story?
