Alton Mental Health Center lays off 60 in state cutback (Illinois)
Saint Louis Today story - "The Alton Mental Health Center laid off about 60 workers at its civil-commitment wing over the weekend as part of the state of Illinois' plan to shrink or shut down the unit.....Gov. George Ryan wants to shut down the civil-commitment wing to save money. The move would save about $2.3 million toward the $500 million the state is seeking to cut from its budget."
