Panel appointed by NY governor calls for sweeping changes in adult home system
AP story on recommendations by the committee established last May by Gov. George Pataki in response to articles in The New York Times that detailed severe flaws in the state's adult home system. The story notes that "The state should drastically revamp its homes for the mentally ill by spending hundreds of millions of dollars on new services and creating thousands of new housing units."
Butler Hospital Takes a Leap Forward in the Mental Health Crisis (Rhode Island)
PR Newswire story on the opening of Duncan Lodge, "a five-star mental health treatment center" in Providence. Duncan Lodge has only five patient suites, making it is one of the smallest mental health treatment centers in the country, but "as part of Butler Hospital and Brown Medical School, this tiny center carries a big reputation."

They have three choices: consolidating Onslow County Behavioral Healthcare Services with another area program, keeping a single-county area program or turning the area program into a county department."
