Truths that hurt. In the spirit of Dijkstra's truths that might hurt, here's one truth that some people have a hard time accepting. Courtesy of Larry "BitKeeper" McVoy, in this post:
it costs a huge amount of money to make a decent SCM system and there is absolutely zero chance of ever recovering the development costs if it is free software. If it's free, no-one will pay you anything for it.
Of course that applies to any software, not only SCM. And if only everyone shared Larry's life philosophy:
Either way, there is no crisis, only opportunities.
