15,000 years of being man's friend gives a dog a lot of clout...and social intelligence. New research shows that dogs probably emerged from one species in East Asia. In memory of Scottie, my pet and faithful, beloved family member who passed away last Monday (18 Nov., 2002, 12:45 pm) after 12 years of love and devotion.
