Welcome SIRLS students! Today is the first day of class and my blog will begin again after a summer hiatus.

Here's the first challenge for the semester: use a web-based rss feed reader to subscribe to my blog. Why? This is so that you can read my blog in your email automatically.  How? Go to BlogLines and register for an account. It's easy - just give your email address and select a password.  You'll get an email notification within seconds in your email. Confirm that email and then log in to Bloglines.  Once inside use Add to add my blog ASC Online and specify location of my blog by using this URL: http://radio.weblogs.com/0109575/ and voila, you're good to go.  Now, anytime I update my blog you'll get an email message showing the recent entry I posted.  If you're like me and would rather not have your email inbox cluttered, you can download a RSS Feed Reader and then subscribe to the blogs you want to read regularly.

RSS feed readers are news aggregators.  Blogs are being used in libraries to push out new acquisition lists and all sort of other user services news.  Blogs are also used by news services - for example, you can subscribe to any one of the Washington Post's numerous RSS Feeds and get your fill of information and news!  Now consider this question and leave me an answer using the Comments link:  are RSS Feeds a push or a pull technology?
