On three of the many conference nights at IFLA there's been a reception organized as a social/cultural event. On Monday was the opening of the Oslo National Library. On Tuesday evening the reception was at the Norskfolkemuseum - Oslo's open air museum of Norwegian history which set the trend for open air museums. No pictures. I took the camera but forgot the memory stick - so technology (not the user!) fails again (why don't most digital cameras include at least a min. reserve storage?).
Wednesday evening at IFLA was a choice of receptions - delegates could choose to attend the Mayor's reception at Town Hall, or receptions at the Public Library or Oslo Universitet Bibliotek - Blindern campus. Shouldn't be a surprise that I visited the Oslo U Bibliotek and here's a few pictures of it. This library was built in the 1980s and marked the separation of the National Library from the University. Awesome design and furnishings - lots of light with lovely, warm woods and marble.
Oslo U used to be downtown and the campus at Blindern was built in the 1960s or 70s.
