Instapundit has links to stories about the aftermath of the Iraq war; first, estimates that Saddam may have killed as many as 8 million Iraqis - how about that, all the antiwar folks?.  Second, an update on the "looting" of the Baghdad museum.

Scepticism from the BBC about the Middle East Peace Roadmap - "Breathtakingly Ambitious". 

Maybe it is.  But how about giving the guy some credit?  And he has been a pretty successful president in what he has tackled up to now.

This post reminds me why I found Economic History such a fascinating subject when I was at University 40 years ago (God, was it really that long ago).  I did two years of it, and really enjoyed it all.

IT technology just keeps on going

IBM's Nick Denofrio is quoted as saying that there will be the same order of magnitude increase in computing power in the next 36 years as in the last 36  - in other words, Moore's Law continues to be valid.  Fascinating technologies also. 

By the way, this weblog, Corante, seems to be one well worth following regularly.

Bad Economic News for Europe?

Brad De Long quotes Steven Roach of Morgan Stanley on the deflationary perils facing Germany in particular, and the Euro zone in general.  I hope they're wrong!
