Still on Cricket, how about Brian Lara?

So often a disappointment, particularly in his captaincy, every now and again he reminds us of his supreme talent as a batsman.  313 not out, and still going strong to regain his record for the highest score in test cricket.

NEXT DAY:  he did it!  And pushed the record up to 400 in the process.

Zimbabwe Cricket Implodes

Perhaps it is a reflection of the overall political situation in that benighted country, perhaps it is ego-driven power-politics, perhaps it is naked racism, but the Zimbabwe cricket team, who over the years have contributed some sterling performances way beyond the level of cricketing resources in a small country, seems to be going down the drain.  They have lost their inspirational captain Heath Streak, after a dsipute, and now it seems up to 14 white players have been sacked.

Two Telegraph correspondents seem to disagree whether this represents a crisis over race or wether it has nothing to do with racism.  Either way it is another tragedy from this tragic nation.
