Maps Save Lives
Recent mining accidents have reaffirmed the importance of accurate maps in responding to critical incidents. That is why GIS is becoming such an important part of the homeland security effort. For example, when some systems are complete, an emergency responder will be able to drive up to a building and access architectural drawings of the building, as well as video of what is happening inside the facility through a wireless connection enabling the responder to act more efficiently and capably.
