Global Information Technology Report
The Global Information Technology Report ranks 82 nations based on "network readiness." Here's the top ten:
- Finland
- United States
- Singapore
- Sweden
- Iceland
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- Denmark
- Taiwan
- Germany
The report also summarizes other efforts to measure Information and Computer Technology (ICT) competitiveness.
The readiness of a nation measures the capability of the principal agents of an economy (citizens, businesses, and governments) to leverage the potential of ICT. Such capability becomes manifest in a nation’s community in the presence of a combination of factors, such as the relevant skills for using ICT in individuals, access and affordability of ICT for corporations, and local government usage of ICT for its own services and processes.
Government readiness (according to the report) is defined by the following variables:
- Government prioritization of ICT
- Government procurement of advanced technology products
- Competence of public offi cials
- Government online services
Chapter Five of the report focuses on new roles of government in digital economies.

Hazard on the Hill
This morning as I came in, hazmat crews were swarming around our state archives building. Apparently, there was an ammonia leak or something like that. The rest of Capitol Hill is open and operating, although I guess access to the west parking lot is currently restricted.
Then I discovered that all my blogs hosted on blogspot were down, so I had to go in and restore them individually. I noticed that other blogspot hosted sites were down as well.
