From Black and White to Duotones: "Last week, I touched on the idea of creating selenium or other split toned versions while discussing various options to enhance your black and white images. Of course, as you might expect, there's more than one way to do everything in Photoshop and duotones are no exception. And as you might also expect at this point, I'd be remiss if I didn't spend time this week covering duotone alternatives...."

Aperture on a PowerBook, Pt. 2 - Raw Files & CS2: "Aperture's Adjustments HUD is quite comprehensive. Good thing it is, because I haven't figured out yet how to link directly to Camera Raw from the Aperture environment."

Aperture 1.0: the Ars review: "

When Apple announced Aperture in October as a 'all-in-one post-production tool for photographers,' many have wondered how well done Apple's latest 'pro' application would be. It sounds great: end-to-end RAW workflow, advanced editing tools, and hooks into Mac OS X and .Mac. But does it live up to the hype? We got a copy, tested it extensively, and made some troubling discoveries. Need to get RGB pixel information?

In the course of making tweaks in Aperture, I went to reach for an eyedropper tool to check my pixel values and was pretty shocked to see that there is no numeric readout of RGB pixel information available. This is so profoundly basic and essential a tool for a professional that I don't know what Apple was thinking to leave it out.

Ouch. Is Apple's first 'pro' digital imaging application really a flop? Read our review of Aperture to find out.
