Online Bookstores:

Yes, you already know about Amazon, eBay, and Barnes and Noble, but did you also know about:

  • eCampus - new and used college-level textbooks (as well as supplies and dorm decorations, etc.) Much cheaper than the college bookstore, although it helps to have the course reading list ahead of time to order them before class starts.
  • Powell's - thousands of used and out of print books.
  • Mysterious Galaxy - mystery, horror, SF, with many signed first editions. An excellent specialty bookstore.
  • Bookfinder and abebooks - two search engines for new, used, out of print, and rare editions.

And here are three price comparison shopping sites for books:

High Context : David Gammel's Weblog about Associations and the Web. Knowledge management, content management, and communities of practice. Way more interesting than it sounds. Here's a great article he's logged: Blogs as Disruptive Technology: How Weblogs are Flying Under the Radar of the Content Management Giants

Kirsty's Booklog. A site devoted to books and book reviews. Anybody who has both Jane Austen and Douglas Adams on the same reading list is my kind of person.
