Currently in Brookings, South Dakota.  I'd be bored beyond my wits if it weren't for South Dakota State University here in town.  I've been spending the evenings either playing basketball or in the library over there.

VB.NET is bothering the crap out of me.  All the keywords are well meaning but annoying:

Public Overridable Overrides Function Foo(i as Integer) as String Implements Interface.Method

I think that java made me really enjoy terse languages:

public String Foo(int i)

Yes, I'd use C# if I wasn't teaching VB.NET this week.

Besides that I'm working on a DTS job with SQL 7.  I had forgotten how much better the DTS package designer is with SQL 2000 vs. 7.  It's easy to forget how much better a newer version of a piece of software is when you become familiar with it.  Well, except Windows XP that is...

On Monday night I made a horrible mistake, I started reading A Storm of Swords.  I had planned to wait until George R.R. Martin had finished his next installment, but being bored in Brookings does that kind of stuff to you.  Now I'll probably be staying up past midnight each night reading it and when I finish my reward will be the excruciating wait for the next installment.  So be it.

Isn't gresu beautiful?
