Happy Birthday, Radio!

Marconi's Wireless was first demonstrated 100 years ago today, sending transatlantic telegraph messages between President Roosevelt and King Edward VII. Radio is definitely one of the best uses of electricity ever invented, used in phones, computers, remote controls, TV, and of course, radio. Even satellite radio is still just radio.

Remembering the Bee Gees

I've never been a Bee Gees fan, per se, but a couple of TV shows last night had me reflecting on my memories of the band. See my story, The Bee Gees and Me.

Apple's New iSUV

I must say, the nickname is funny if not apt. Yes, the 17-inch Powerbook is a king-sized object of desire. (Isn't that right, JSL?) And I didn't even know that Slate had a sense of humor. The article is here.

"Intake of trans fats should be as low as possible."

So would read the labels of foods containing hydrogenated oils, or trans-fatty acids. As I've noted, trans fats are bad for you. The CSPI has been campaigning since 1994 to have "trans fats" listed on food labels. The FDA proposes to do that and more, which makes the AgriGiants verrry angry! See the WSJ article at the AJ-C or the SFC.
