Under Contract (or, This Blog Will Soon Need a New Name)
Having decided that the time was right to end our condo days, the wife and I have spent a few weeks looking for a house. Today we signed a contract for one of the best buys in our target neighborhood, the "South Lake" historic district of Hollywood. There is nothing particularly historic about this house [UPDATE: broken link removed, see below], but it's in great shape and meets our criteria pretty well.
We were trying to find a place that hadn't already been redone, but most of the sellers in the area seems to have delusions of grandeur -- this place, while not done exactly to our taste, was priced competitively with the handyman specials.
Certainly we will miss aspects of SoBe life as we say "good riddance" to others. On the other hand, we have long admired South Lake, and we'll live much closer to most of our friends, to boot. Luckily, our bid was accepted before a divorced Rabbi and his girlfriend offered theirs.
UPDATE: Realtors.com apparently recycles the listing ID numbers quite rapidly, so I had to remove the link; it was now going, as noted by Paul (see the comments on this post), to a snow-covered house in Ohio. If I knew how to post pictures in Radio I'd put some up -- I knew the link would break eventually, so I saved the photos on my PC -- but, alas, I haven't read the Radio documentation enough to do that.
