General Product Management Update

OK, here's what's going on with my products.  As you know, I have 4 product families, three of which are basically on the back burner right now: app dev, app hosting (mainframe), and wireless services.  There just isn't enough time in the day to work on those product families right now with the priorities that I have.  Most products in those families are sailing along relatively well, anyway.

The products that I am working on are all in the Web Stuff product family.

I am leading an authentication infrastructure "Tiger Team" tasked with improving the level of service and stability of web authentication.  It's going pretty well.  That same group is also designing and planning the next authentication infrastructure.  We are definitely making progress on that front.

A large amount of my time has also been allocated to the portal/content management project (More Info).  I am working towards having a product plan for it, and trying to help mitigate risks where possible.  I wish I had more time to interact with the future users and consumers of the product to verify with more certainty that we are on the right track.

Also on my plate are efforts to manage the actuate product more effectively.  I will be forming a cross-functional team with that objective shortly.  Payment portal is always festering in the back of my mind, as well. I will be diving into that in the next few weeks.  I will also be attending planning meetings for One Stop Business Registration as ITS's representative.

Portal and Content Management

I have of late become more involved in the portal/content management project.  Product management responsibilities for this project are vast and varied, and the timeline is short.  My primary efforts right now are dealing with mitigating the authentication infrastructure/hardware risk.  The design team for authentication came to an agreement yesterday on what hardware we will need to build the new siteminder implementation, and I hope to have buyoff from management this week, as well as a projected schedule of completion. I am also preparing product plans, and materials for establishing this as an official enterprise project.
