Went down to Rice the other day, made just good enough time to stop at Goode Co for a BBQ lunch. Later, I ended up in a conversation about BBQ (of course) with someone I met, and learned that there's an outstanding place to check out near (but not in) Austin: The Salt Lick. The best BBQ we've found locally is not the well-known County Line, but the more understated Pok-e-Joe's. Excellent. We've been told that the very best BBQ in the area -- an perhaps the world --is less than an hour away, in Llano Texas. So much exploring ahead!
