Mac OS X accounts for 20 percent-plus of Maya sales. Alias/Wavefront has reported that 25 percent of all commercial units of Maya are now sold for the Mac OS X platform in North America and 20 percent globally. The company says this shows that Maya is the leading 3D animation software package on the Mac. Maya is a professional 3D animation software that runs on various operating systems. Maya 5 Complete costs US$1,999 and includes modeling, rendering, animation, dynamics, Maya Artisan, Maya Paint Effects, Mental Ray for Maya, and Maya Embedded Language (MEL), an open interface for programming and scripting There's also the Maya Personal Learning Edition, a $19.95 personal-use, non-commercial version of the product.
