Has Seed Stage Investing by VCs Hit Bottom?
Fresh Inc. reports:
VC Investments in Start-Ups Hit New Lows. Early stage venture capital investments in start-ups fell to new lows in 2003, according to a recent Pricewaterhouse Coopers study. Only 479 start-ups received VC funding last year, the lowest level since 1994 when only 279 companies received venture capital....
It's only anecdotal, but my conversations over the last week with Trevor Loy of Flywheel Ventures in Santa Fe and Bill Reichert of Garage Technology Ventures in Palo Alto suggest that organized venture capital's interest in seed stage technology deals may start picking up.
