I have a lot to talk about tonight. And yes, it's more than words separated by periods.

First off; Coachella. Bold face = groups I am stoked to see.
Stolen from LA Times: This year's lineup will include garage-rock revival leaders the White Stripes, balladeer Jack Johnson, hip-hop hybridists N.E.R.D., power-puff punks the Donnas and progressive rappers Black Eyed Peas. One night will feature the debut of the Blue Man Group's full-production concert tour. Also on board is a strong roster of DJs and electronica figures (Underworld, Groove Armada, Darren Emerson, Timo Maas, Richie Hawtin, et al.) and a presence of the burgeoning electroclash world (Fischerspooner, Ladytron, Felix da Housecat). Mexico's Kinky and Café Tacuba represent Latin rock, with Sweden's Soundtrack of Our Lives and Germany's Stereo Total adding international reach. Others confirmed include Ben Harper, Johnny Marr, Tortoise, Polyphonic Spree, Cat Power, Ben Kweller, Hot Hot Heat (OMFG OMFG OMFG), Joseph Arthur, Thievery Corporation, Dirty Vegas and a package of artists from New York underground hip-hop label Def Jux.

So I'm way excited about that. Tickets go on sale Saturday. Go Jason and Amanda! w00t!!!

I've bought 7 cds in the last two days. I don't know if that's an unhealthy obsession with used record stores or an excess amount of enthusaism for music. I'll let you decide. Lord knows I'll be back for more soon. Here goes.

Hot Hot Heat - Knock Knock Knock; Make up the Breakdown
Supergrass - s/t; Life on Other Planets
Sunny Day Real Estate - LP2; Sunny Day Real Estate Live
Jason Mraz - Waiting for my Rocket to Come

I ate dinner tonight at Open Sesame; a Lebanese/Mediterranian restaurant in Belmont Shore. I've been there before, but tonight I headed out solo to do my Anthro project. I really didn't expect much to happen other than some good food and people watching. That people watching turned into me asking a man seated next to me about his travels to Cairo. Turns out he is a Cairo native and he attended school Stateside. He's a doctor of psychological disorders and lives in Dana Point. We began talking and a small relationship was formed. He frequents the restaurant often and I am in love with the food and culture. We chatted for what must have been at least an hour, while he waited for his dinner partner to arrive. He told me he frequents the restaurant Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. I very much want to go back and continue talking with this man. He told me his name; Abal, Abad, something of that nature. I couldn't quite make it out.

I'm experiencing another content mood. If you can remember back from December when I said I started my morning with some time to myself and my day was better? I feel like that again. "It's Not Me" by Supergrass, Lebanese food and a new person to talk to is a good combination.

Pops let me know he's buying me an Apple. Not a Powerbook; a G4, what I had origionally wanted in the first place. He said he didn't want to buy another desktop system, so I agreed on a laptop instead. Well, he calls me up after I leave work and says they (mom and dad) are doing it for my birthday. G4 1.4 Ghz, Cinema HD 23" display, Airport Extreme (802.11g) and anything else I see fit to put on that machine. Wowzas! That's one hefty price tag!

I do believe I will round up all my new(er) cd purchaces and whip up a playlist that will last a few weeks :)
