I need to go to Nagoya next Tuesday. Therefore I need a plane ticket. I know that if I ask my travel agent to do it, he will put a hefty markup on it. I decided to book it myself over the phone with ANA (their web-booking site is only in Japanese. Brownie points for that one). Before calling, I looked the fare up on their web site (that part was in English): less than expected. So this morning I phoned. Looooong wait for service in English (surprise!). I booked the ticket and the rate the clerk gives me is much higher than what is on their web site. She talks to her web-reservation colleagues and come back with an explanation: The real meaning of the round trip rate they publish is per leg of the round-trip, not the whole trip. Logical? It is explained in Japanese but not in English. She appologized Nipponingly. I am frustrated. This is a big company of a G7 country and they can't translate properly their web site in English. Hello? Not in Ancient Greek, in English!! Good luck folks with the recovery. Keep opening to the world... Do you understand why I just can't stand living here anymore? Can't wait to leave next summer...
