School Principals in Wilmington and St. Petersburg have sided with ignorance against teachers who tried to do their jobs by actually trying to teach their students something.
In one case, the teacher introduced niggardly as a vocabulary word, upsetting a parent who considered it racist even after learning its actual meaning. In the other, a theater instructor explained to acting students that they should avoid getting a suntan because darker skin is more difficult to light on stage. Parents were upset by this 'racist' remark.
Calling either of these racist only highlights the ignorance of the parents and for administrators to defend them is really noisome.
