Maybe we Floridians aren't so dumb after all. Today we figured out Janet Reno isn't moving to Tallahasse any time soon. Okay, we already knew that and today she figured it out. Is being the last to know really a leadership quality a governor needs?
Now we can get on to the serious business of amending the Florida Constitution to make the state safe for pregnant pigs. At least I think this amendment is about pregnant pigs. The wording can be a little confusing.
Cracker: Today we have Ms. Emily Litella with us. Emily, I understand you have some concerns about Florida’s Amendment Proposal 10.
Litella: That’s right, I do. I don’t see why you should only have to treat pigs humanely while you are pregnant. You should treat them that way all the time. And it shouldn’t just be the girl pigs, it should be the boy pigs, too.
Cracker: But, wait a minute. That means while the pig is pregnant.
Litella: Oh? Let’s see… It talks here about ‘(confining) a pig during pregnancy ‘ and ‘(tethering) a pig during pregnancy.’ It just says ‘during pregnancy’. It doesn’t say it has to be the pig’s. Besides, I still think you should have to be humane to them all the time.
Cracker: Oh... Never mind.
Normally, I would assume they mean the pig. But in a world where you can sue McDonald's for serving you the hot coffee you ordered and then forcing you to make a pig of yourself…
Next, an amendment proposal that gives Florida 17 additional governors. Maybe Reno has hope after all.
