![]() San Francisco to Regulate Entertainers San Francisco has proposed legislation requiring certain entertainers to "obtain permits, post their rates and stop tricking their clients," as well as no longer allowing them "to perform such classic curse removals as the knot in the thread, the blood in the glass, or the hair in the grapefruit." Advertising for psychics and fortunetellers has long included the disclaimer "for entertainment purposes only," but they have continued to present performances that were dangerous to the financial health of their audiences. Other legislation is being considered to require the "entertainment purposes" disclaimer in the advertising of stock analysts, economists, politicians and The West Wing. Sometimes I think we've gone through Alice's looking glass and meanings have gotten all upside down. How is it inclusive to exclude Christmas from your holiday festivities? Isn't it more inclusive to invite your Muslim acquaintances to your Christmas party and join your Jewish friends in their Hanukkah celebrations than to have one generic holiday party that invites everyone to leave their faith at the door?
