Google, I couldn't have drawn it better myself...: "On this fine April 1st, Google brings us a visual representation of the accelerating decline of PageRank: If only that image had existed a year ago. [...] On a related note, thanks to Google for making this year's April Fool's Day so damned entertaining on so many different levels. Keep up the excellent work and teasing...." Gmail - a Google approach to email: "Gmail is an experiment in a new kind of webmail, built on the idea that you should never have to delete mail and you should always be able to find the message you want. [...] 1000 megabytes of free storage so you'll never need to delete another message."

This was at first thought to be an April 1st joke, but apparently it isn't. Google is really testing a new webmail system with a huge storage capacity.

[Item Permalink] Producing quality PDF documents with LaTeX -- Comment()
SP commented my entry on quality PDF with LaTeX: "I don't think this survey is exhaustive enough. To begin with - particularly when taking into account the Mac - using pdfTeX is the easiest way to do this, and on the Mac it is mostly the default way anyway. Also, when wanting to generate quality PDF files, there should be some mentioning of the hyperref package, say, that lets you have clickable cross references, PDF table of contents and insert PDF metadata."

I agree, hyperref is an excellent tool. See here for an example of producing a PDF-format book with LaTeX. I have previously been using Acrobat Distiller for making the PDF, but now "ps2pdf" seems to produce almost as good results.
