Secrets of the universe inspire young people -- Comment() On Monday I met for the first time the other board members of Ursa Astronomical Association. The meeting was well organized, the food was excellent, and the discussions inspiring. Ursa does great work in Finland in making (young) people interested in the secrets of the universe. Perhaps quite a few students decide to learn more about physics and mathematics because of their interest in astronomy and cosmology.

-- Comment() Mathematics and Sex: "I think more mathematically literate people would like appendices which give some indication of the deeper math behind what she discusses. [...] As is, though, anyone with even some knowledge of or interest in mathematics will find this book great fun."

-- Comment() Spolsky in Salon: "I've been an admirer of Joel Spolsky's writing on software since I started reading it several years ago. [...] Today's Salon features a write-up of the interview, pegged in part to the publication of a book collection of Spolsky's essays." [Scott Rosenberg's Links & Comment] I have been reading Joel Spolsky's essay collection for a few days, and I'm impressed. I don't agree with Joel on everything, but he has a way of getting the important point across. I promised to write a review of the book, and it will be a pleasure to do.
