I'll never buy Longhorn: "Apple and Microsoft are barking up the wrong tree by adding endless flittering thingies and shiny baubles to decorate the OS, wasting a lot of processor power which could very well be implemented for something actually useful. The difference is Apple has at least gotten the journaled searching and a few other things working already."

Desktop discussions redux: "In a bizarre display of desktop one-upmanship against Apple, Microsoft herded some Longhorn news off the development ranch for their partners and programmers. Details are a mile wide but only an inch deep, as the goal of WinHEC seemed to be more about Longhorn headlines than Longhorn details. Only the most blatant Microsoftie claims Longhorn will see the light of day before 2007, but that didn't stop Bill and Company from trumpeting pseudo-details at high decibels."

Fun with Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4): "I can tell you that there are many, many little yet ingenious improvements that I'm going to love about it. Far too many to list here, but it's almost as if Apple's engineers spent a year and a half trying to find everything about the MacOS X experience that could be considered even mildly annoying, and then proceeded to come up with a smarter way of implementing it."
