Mac TCO Half That Of Windows: "Winn Schwartau, the network security expert whose well-known Mad as Hell series of articles carefully disassembled the truth behind the crumbling Windows infrastructure, is back today with a very intersting article about Mac TCO. Compared to Windows, he finds, the Mac is half the cost to support per year than Windows. I like how he boiled his article down to one final question: Why should a company pay more than $2,000 a year for PC support of a clerk who only uses Web applications when a $500 Mac Mini will do? And from what he says, it seems large companies are starting to realize this too." [MacSlash]

Real Mac OS X Hack Challenge: "In the wake of the poorly-reported hack of an open OS X box, in which a cracker, provided with internal system access was able to deface a Web site, a more legitimate scenario has been posted. This contest, hosted at the University of Wisconsin, dares potential crackers to take a shot at a more fair representation of Mac on the Internet. The deadline is this Friday, and well, more than 30 minutes have passed since the contest started, and so far, no takers." [MacSlash]

Secure Mac mini, OS X Hacked In Under 7 Minutes: "For privacy reasons, the hacker who won the Dubai Open Port Challenge can only be identfied as "niessuhmij."
