.NET Patents.
CNet:
Microsoft is applying for a patent that covers a variety of functions related to its .Net initiative. But critics say if approved, the wide-ranging patent could stymie innovation.
Hmm, this could suck big time for open source implementations of .NET such as Mono.

Indeed this could suck big time for any non-MS versions of .NET. For me this is one of the biggest reason for sticking with Java and not using .NET - we all know MS will eventually use .NET as a tool to maintain its Windows monopoly by making versions of .NET on other platforms either illegal, incompatible, delayed or incomplete.
Why does it not suprise me one bit that MS could kill Mono at the drop of a hat when its served their needs of making .NET appear a valid cross platform solution. Before anyone mentions Rotor, please look at the license which makes it totally useless for real software development.
