Starbucks HotSpots & War Chalking I live in a town where there are a half-dozen Starbucks Cafes, all within a few minutes drive of each other. Starbucks now provides wireless internet services at their HotSpots. These are provided by T-Mobile and they are secure. War Chalking or War Driving is a phenomena where one coasts around the neighborhood with their mobile *WLAN equipment looking for free network drops or just snooping (be it maliciously or otherwise). Unfortunately, *WLANs may not be secure as it appears - as this article from Network Magazine explains. 11:05:22 AM ![]() |
