Flashback - Guilford County Schools March 15th 2002 Friday Notes
As the liberation of Iraq which began on March 19th, 2002 drags on and is now possibly set to expand to other nations in need of liberation, I thought it would be a good time to revisit our county school system's notes from March 15th, 2002:
Additional Components of ESEA The new ESEA--No Child Left Behind Act contains several items in addition to significant assessment, accountability, and educator quality requirements. They include:
- Military recruiters must be allowed access to students in the same ways that postsecondary institutions and prospective employers are allowed access. In addition, schools must provide basic student contact information (names, addresses, and telephone numbers) to military recruiters upon request. Parents may request that this information not be released without their prior written permission.
A pat on the back to anyone who can find the chart showing the growth of opt out forms summitted to GCS since 2002.
If you need an opt out form you can get one here if you are not fearful of viewing a site with promos that include Cindy Sheehan.
