Free Speech battle at UNCG moves to next level

The protest against the designated free speech zones at UNCG is moving to the next level: a "pre-hearing" (i.e. arraignment) tomorrow at 10:00am for the instigators lead by Allison Jaynes who dared to "speak outside the zone":

"I've talked to 3 different FIRE lawyers over the past week and they are behin us 100%. They are in the process of sending a formal letter to several heads at UNCG explaining that their policies are unconstitutional and demanding that they eliminate them and drop any punishment towards us, or else litigation will be pursued. They informed me that the entire UNC system is one of the worst in the country and they will lie at every turn."

The University's timing is worth noting.  The protest occured on 11/16.  The University refused to acknowledge or comment on what happened until those summoned to appear at the UNCG hearing were served notice at 2pm on the 22nd - three hours before the University was shut down for the Thanksgiving Day holiday.  The students now must appear at 10:00am on the first day back from the holiday leaving them with a grand total of 4 business hours to contact officials and other adminstrators in the system beforehand.  What a transparent and accountable University system we have in NC.
