Fight the Net Here's a lead that will grab your attention: A newly declassified document gives a fascinating glimpse into the US military's plans for "information operations" - from psychological operations, to attacks on hostile computer networks.
Bloggers beware. ...When it describes plans for electronic warfare, or EW, the document takes on an extraordinary tone. It seems to see the internet as being equivalent to an enemy weapons system. "Strategy should be based on the premise that the Department [of Defense] will 'fight the net' as it would an enemy weapons system," it reads. The slogan 'fight the net' appears several times throughout the roadmap. Why is it that the foreign press are always the ones to tell us these things? 10:39:57 PM![]() |
BB&T draws line on Eminent Domain Albeit on page C5, the New York Times did do an article this Thursday on Winston-Salem based BB&T's new policy on eminent domain. In a nutshell: BB&T won't loan money to private developers who steal individuals' property through eminent domain laws. Officially, the wording reads almost with as much excoriation: gThe idea that a citizenfs property can be taken by the government solely for private use is extremely misguided, in fact itfs just plain wrong,h said BB&T Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Allison. Inquires to BB&T management were at such a level that within a day of the announcement, local staff was asked not to provide comment but rather direct all interested parties to eminentdomain@bbandt.com Couple with the understanding that Atlas Shrugged is recommended reading for top management, this principled stand has inspired me to move my banking from Wachovia to BB&T. 5:48:10 PM![]() |
