A picture named dante1.jpgWood. A wonderful material. Here's an interesting exhibit about the History of Wood Engraving. More about wood engraving and even more about books themselves can be found at aspects of the victorian book, another fabulous online exhibit at the British Library.

A picture named lombf.jpgGent with interesting facial hair. I can't thank Robert enough for this particular link. The website I'm talking about is simply called British History Pages and features: Chronicle of Occurrences October 1855 to November 1859; Weekly Entertainer 1793; Old Photographs; Edwardian Actresses; Victorian Men in Uniforms; and much, much more.

And by the way: I used to know such a gent with those interesting hairy features. But that was in 1994 and the person in question was proofreader at Hamilton Carver Lee in Cambridge.

"Tony Blair stood accused last night of misleading Parliament and the British people over Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, and his claims that the threat posed by Iraq justified war."
