Sunny Days
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Triad Libertarian Convention on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who has signed up for our LPGC MS Walk Team, and for all of those who purchased raffle tickets. We raised $133.00 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and those funds will go toward our Team's fundraising goal. Don't forget this week we're having the MS Benefit at Fuddruckers Thursday Night! You'll need an admission ticket when you pay your bill.
Heather Potter, Chapter Programs Coordinator for the MS Society gave a great speech about the important work that the MS Society does.
Mike Dixon and Jim Lark gave great speeches that tied into the importance of Libertarians getting out and showing by example how to make the world a better place. Great tie-in with my MS Walk. Thanks Beverly for suggesting it, kudos to Mike and Jim for driving it home!
This charity stuff suits me well. Everything has been going great, and I love helping others when it matters. I'm seriously thinking about majoring in Non-Profit Management or Communications.
At the Convention I was honored to be nominated as Chair for the Guilford LP, but I declined. Too busy with school, plus I may be moving to Charlotte in the summer. Nominated Jim Capo, but he declined as well due to his position with the John Birch Society. So Tom Bailey was once again elected. Yea Tom!!! Julie Laurie is once again Treasurer, and I am once again Secretary.
I was awarded the "Most Outspoken for Liberty Award" for Guilford County. I was not really prepared to give an acceptance speech, and getting choked up did not help either. Geez, why do I do that? Sometimes I miss the even keel of my Zoloft.
Allison Jaynes, President of the UNC-G Libertarians, was awarded with the "Most Valued Activist" Award. Thanks for all of the great work, Allison!
Congratulations to Bob Koch for living 10 years so far after his liver transplant. He is one of 13 people who have lived this long. We hope there are many more years to come!
Arrogance and Revenge
Bush is the most arrogant President (dictator) I have ever seen. He has no tact at all. Perhaps it's good we are getting the honest truth that it's really "My way or the highway".
Savage Cabbage's web site has great signs of Bush protest. Asa Cooney, Bassist is one of those who volunteered during my campaign. Thanks Asa!
Social Outcast UB has a new song out called "I don't vote Republican". Much thanks to Louie for starting The Local Music Zine! Louie was also of great help as well for my campaign.
Republican Steve Wood is co-sponsor of NC House Bill 43. This bill is designed to add more fees on top of the expensive petition requirements that Libertarians already have to meet in order to remain on the ballot. Guess he didn't like his opposition? How soon he forgets his Reform Party friends!
Libertarians are currently working on our own campaign reform bill, to bring NC from one of the most restrictive states down to the national average.
