This is a place where, as time allows, I'll try to exchange my thoughts on the development of www.loquo.com. Loquo is a community resource that shares many of the features of a well established one in the bay area of San Francisco. Suffice it to say that the aforementioned one served as a good working model, but now it’s time to depart from it. I, by no means, think that I’m more equipped both mentally and financially to do a better job.
Didn’t need to look far for motivation: love for the city that has been my home for a bit over a year now(*) and the lack of a good local resources for housing, freelance work, what’s on, et al compelled me to put the hours in this attempt to give Barcelona the online community that it deserves.
Moreover, there are now wonderful tools, such as this one, specially working as a radio community server that can, hopefully, be a good complement to a regular online community (free listings, forums, good searching). The blog phenomenon, although hardly new here, certainly hasn’t caught up much yet.
I’m now torn between writing in Spanish (my native tongue) and English (my new found second one). Not sure yet whether a combination of languages is going to work. Time will tell.
Now back to work.
(*)I was born in Havana, Cuba. For the last 10 years I've lived in Miami, Cambridge, San Franciso, Oakland and -how can I forget?- Tahallassee.
