Resuming Our Usual Post: Special Containers

(Please bear with me as I work around some technical difficulties with my blogging software.)

Let's continue looking at our list of special containers to see which use letters and numbers in their design:

  • Temple Doors.
    These seem pretty void of designs using letters and numbers.

  • Totem Poles.
    Not much (any) writing on these either.

  • Chalices
    Most seem to not have letters or numbers, but some do.

  • Palanquin
    Not much here either...

  • Spirit Houses in Thailand.
    Nope.

  • Ultimate Sanctuaries at the Nara National Museum.
    Hard to see...but it looks like not.

  • Modern day crematory urns.
    Just about all of them do not have letters not writing...except one.

  • A Mikoshi is a portable Shinto shrine which spirits inhabit.
    Yup...Lettering on these for sure!

    Looks like there are the use of letters and numbers is less than I expected with this group. More objects tomorrow....
