Images in Shadow....

Still working out the issues from the last couple of days for making
tile (or other relief decoration) that produces images from their
shadows-
To make sure the image is seen easily, the color of the clay should be
light. This allows for the greatest contrast with the shadow.
One tile pattern (or relief) produces a particular gradiation of
gray. If the same pattern is used throughout the image, for that
particular gray, the image could probably be made out with out the need
for the shadow.
However, if one has several different patterns that would individually
make that gray, then one could randomly select a particular pattern for
each gray instance. I think this would make the image harder to
discern without shadow.
In this way the 'magic' of the shadow producing the image is better
preserved, along with the ability for the image to best occur only on a
particular date.
