Developing a Critical Pedagogy of Craft-

So, let's go a bit further than yesterday, mix in a bit of Dennis Stevens, and get started-

Perhaps, by coming up with a standard Learning Object "template" on how to address an object concerning issues of craft/art, we can create a best practices form of craft/art criticism.

In order for a Learning Object to be modular, so that it can be reused, shared, incorporated into other paradigms/projects, it needs some way of being standardized.  Either the learning object itself, or a third party, needs to be able to make connections between the attributes of multiple Learning Objects.

In the Guidelines for Authors of Leaning Objects, page 16, we have a chapter on Metadata Specifications.  Mentioned are: Dublin CoreCanCore and  SCORM.

I hope The Pachyderm Project will address some of the issues of metadata, perhaps using the ideas/standards above.  (I have asked to get a look at Pachyderm as soon as it is released to non-members.)

However, I don't think there has been much generally accepted work on creating a controlled vocabulary in the ceramics field.   This would be where we all agree what "Majolica", or "Porcelain" is.

A quick look at the above metadata references didn't find anything.  There would probably be a some sort of administrative organization that keep the official designations (Thanks, Using Dublin Core.) Perhaps NCECA, or maybe something along the lines of the wikipedia, would be such an organization.  I do not know of any-

So let's make one!
